Smartphone to project 3D holograms

A US-based startup has created a chip that may enable your smartphone to project 3D holograms into thin-air. the company, referred to as Ostendo, in CA has created the holograph projector chip that is tiny enough for smartphones.

The Tic-Tac-sized chip should be prepared for production next year. The Ostendo Quantum Photonic Imager combines an image processor with a wafer containing radically miniaturised light-emitting diodes (LEDs).

The system will control the color, brightness and angle of quite 1,000,000 individual beams of light, per ‘Discovery News’.

One chipset, small enough to suit into a smartphone, is capable of projecting video on a surface with a 48-inch diagonal.

The first iteration of the chip can solely project 2-D videos, however ensuing version, expected to follow before long when can feature holographic capability.
