Windows Phone 8 .1 review :

The most recent release of Windows Phone 8 .1 update has been producing almost all the appropriate ripples , primarily because it has included a Siri-like personal assistant called Cortana , the well known artificial intelligence character in the Halo series of video games . Cortana is now offered on Beta in the US and a handful of other countries .

The live tiles that set apart Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8 gets some thing additional in Windows Phone 8 .1 . Now you can include a start background to the tiles in the form of a picture that moves behind the apps . The whole effect surely stands apart from the other Operating systems as you are not changing the homescreen picture , but the picture behind the tiles . You can add another column of tiles now , which means that there is lesser scrolling to do . However , I would prefer the option to have a tile that operates over the entire screen , which is unavailable at present . But the genuine personal touch for me was the capability to call images from Facebook albums on the lock screen . Whenever there is a new picture available that can bring a smile to your face or a flood of memories .

Calendar
The calendar view is better than several other platforms . For example , items from different resources appear in distinct colours . So you have one colour for those sycned to your Microsoft accounts and another for Google and Facebook . You can even mark different types of posts like birthdays and invitations in different colours .

Word Flow Keyboard
The keyboard is undoubtedly one of the very best things about this upgrade . However , it it’s really not revolutionary as the Swype keyboard is already a very popular app on Android . Where this scores over Swype is with its accuracy and reliability levels , which is much better than on Android . An alternative function that appears inspired by Android and iOS is the notification centre which can be pulled down from the top of the screen to rebel recent messages , mails and updates . It is not at all different from what you discover in the other two operating systems with the exception of the fact that this one also lets you gain access to most of the other options also from the window .
